Since 1994 · Mold · Oswestry

The unhurried accountants for people whose numbers actually matter.

We handle the accounts, returns, and quiet financial planning of owner-managed businesses and private clients across North Wales and the Shropshire border. We keep our list small on purpose — so the principal who meets you is the principal who signs your return.

Details from the practice

Small things, done deliberately.

Until the commissioned photography is shot, these hand-drawn vignettes stand in for the details they represent. Every one is a specific thing we actually do.

Fountain pen on a closed ledger

A closed brown-linen ledger, leather band fastened, a black Pelikan fountain pen resting diagonally on top. Deep shadow on the lower half of the frame. Almost still-life.

    Brass nameplate, polished by use

Extreme close-up of the brass ABC nameplate on the Mold door. Not pristine — patinated, polished around the letters by decades of hands. Reflected sky in the polished surface.

Teacup beside a signed set of accounts

A bone-china cup on a saucer, half-full. Beside it, a printed set of accounts with a signature just visible at the foot of the final page. Steam rising softly.

    A column of hand-ruled figures

A partial page of a printed ledger or working paper. A column of five- and six-digit numbers, ruled and totalled. One figure circled in pencil, one ticked in green ink.

A set of accounts that surprises its own director is a set of accounts that has a mistake in it somewhere.

What we do

Eight services, one practitioner per engagement.

We do compliance work to a deliberately high standard — and we do planning work with the same unhurried attention. No service is a loss leader for another.

  1. 01

    Accounts preparation

Statutory accounts for Companies House and HMRC, drafted once, reviewed twice, signed late if necessary rather than wrong on time.

  2. 02

    Bookkeeping

Monthly bookkeeping on Xero or FreeAgent, reconciled within five working days of month-end, with a short written note on anything that looks unusual.

  3. 03

    Tax returns

Self-assessment, corporation tax, and partnership returns — filed without last-minute rushes, because we ask for your paperwork in August, not January.

  4. 04

    Payroll

Fortnightly or monthly payroll run for teams between two and eighty. Auto-enrolment, RTI, and P60/P11D obligations handled without you thinking about them.

  5. 05

    VAT

VAT returns under Making Tax Digital, with proactive scheme reviews (cash, flat rate, margin) every eighteen months to check you are in the right one.

  6. 06

    Wealth management

Coordinated advice with a regulated financial adviser we have worked with for fifteen years — pension, ISA, and estate structure reviewed annually against your plans.

  7. 07

    Tax planning

R&D, capital allowances, EIS/SEIS, and remuneration strategy reviewed before the year-end, while we can still change something, not after.

  8. 08

    Business advisory

Quarterly board-level conversations for founders who want a financial partner in the room, not just a set of numbers in an email.

The extra mile, shown

We keep our list small, so we can actually read the numbers.

We are small on purpose. Angela is the principal and is on every client file. Loren keeps the practice running. Kaylee and Amanda handle the day-to-day. That is the whole team.

It means we spot the mistake in the bank feed before you do. It means when a client calls at 9pm on the Friday before a filing deadline, it is Angela who answers — not a duty phone. It means when HMRC issues a bulletin on basis period reform, we write to every affected client the same week, in plain English, with the specific impact on their numbers.

A small pile of badges from people we respect.

We mention these once, here, then get on with the work. None of them were the reason we did the work.

Recent thinking

Plain-English notes on what is actually changing.

Written for existing clients first, prospects second. No SEO filler. One or two a month, when we have something useful to say.

If you would like to talk

We keep the first conversation short and useful. Thirty minutes, no sales patter, a straight answer on whether we are the right firm for what you are doing next.
